El Shaday Pentacle

I ve been putting off some projects due to the great ammount of work I ve had and just these couple of days relaxing a bit.
This is part of a bigger project but here goes one of the talismans that made quite a bit of career in grimoires: The El Shaday Pentacle, my version:

Most people know it from the Key of Solomon, Mather s edition, with Hebrew lettering:

It also appears in French manuscripts of the Key:
This one is from Lansdowne MS. 1203 :

[This pentacle is the portrait of the Eternal, which means Justice and divine Wrath, and has a very great virtue for constraining the spirits and for controlling all earthly creatures, for it is said that in heaven and on earth the angels and the demons will bend their knees before him. It must be made on the skin of a lion on the day and hour of the Sun around the ten first days of August, written with the feather of swan, and of gold or yellow colors, or on a plate of very fine gold on the same day, month, and hour. Afterwards, incense it with a suitable incense, then carry it on your collar attached with a chain of gold, or a wire ribbon of gold.](Joseph Peterson)

This one is from Sl. 1307, a manuscript of the Key which preserves best the Hebrew lettering in the name:

Figure 32.-- The first pentacle of the Sun.-- The countenance of Shadda├» the almighty, at whose aspect all creatures obey, and the angelic spirits do reverence on bended knees.

This talisman is also taken from the French manuscript along with a few others, and incoroprated in the ill-famed Petit Albert:

and later, in very cheap editions of the Book of Saint Cyprian.
This one is from Le Petit Albert, a better rendering:

Magical Alphabet: Ancient Hermetic and Talismanic Scripts of Power

This is one book that I fell in love with because of my love of magical alphabets.
(cover image not mine)

Magical Alphabet: Ancient Hermetic and Talismanic Scripts of Power is a very complete treatise of the Sage Abu Bakr Ahmed ibn 'Ali ibn Qays al-Wahshiyah, with dozens of alphabets from the Arabic tradition used in talismanic work.

Besides the normal cryptograms and secret alphabets of various philosophers, one can find special alphabets for every one of the signs of the zodiac and of the seven planets, and much, much more. This is a brand new translation, with all the nuances and hints, and illustrations by yours truely.

This work of his, Kitab Shawq al-Mustaham, was translated and published in 1806 by Joseph Hammer as
Ancient Alphabets and Hieroglyphic Characters Explained; with an Account of the Egyptian Priests, their Classes, Initiation, and Sacrifices in the Arabic Language by Ahmad Bin Abubekr Bin Wahishih.

I'll take one alphabet  to show you the differences. This is one of my all time favourite alphabets in the book, called the Alphabet of Colphotorios.
A short extract from the old edition, page 7:

Section XIII. The alphabet of Colphotorios
the philosopher. He was deeply learned in the
knowledge of spirits and cabalistic spells, in
talismans, astrological aspects, and in the magic
and black art. Philosophers and learned men
have used this alphabet in their books and writings
in preference to others, on account of it's different
extraordinary qualities.

This is the alphabet, as featured on page 35 of the original Arabic book:

Also, I have worked with the Arabic manuscript kept in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. [BSB-Hss 789]Ibn-Wahsiya, Ahmad Ibn-×Ali: Kitab Sauq al-mustaham fi ma×rifat rumuz al-aqlam - BSB 789, Constantinopel, 1791:

This is my own rendition, no Arabic letters, done in strip format to be more easily edited:

Letters A through Y

Letters K though Q

Letters R though Gh.

Be on the lookout for it, or order it in advance. It's a great sourcebook.

Goetia Seals: New Ones!

This is a set of seals I was ask to do by Imperial Arts, for his upcoming works. I will only post a few of them, so you can see the difference between these and other editions.

Although I do not deal with demons myself in my magical practice, I truly recommend his LiveJournal for those interested, one of the few ceremonialists out there that are sticking to the book and getting full results.

He specifically asked for my original view of them , not slavish copies of others. So, there it goes:

Stay tuned to his journal for more updates!

Beginners Guide to the Berhatiah

This is a real treat for everyone I hope, since it's part of a book that has't been published yet!  Ancient Magick Conjuration of Power: Beginners Guide to the Berhatiah

We are expecting this book real soon. It's an introduction to one of the most revered and powerful conjurations of the Arabic tradition. Also called The Ancient Oath, the names of this Oath have been first published by brother Nineveh Shadrach, in his Magic That Works, from where we quote a bit on this powerful conjuration (page 48) :

One of the most famous of these categories is the Berhatiah names or the Ancient Oath, also
known as the Red Sulphur. The master Al-Boni said in his book, Sharhu Al-Barhatiah,
“Know o seeker, God aided me and you with a spirit from Him, that the names
of Barhatiah are the dependable conjuration from the ancient of times.
The ancients used to refer to it as the Ancient Conjuration, Powerful
Binding, Guarded Mystery, Vaulted Secret and the Red Sulphur. It was
spoken of by the original wise men, then by our master Solomon Ben
David, peace be upon them, then by Assif Ben Barkhiah, then by the
wise man Klaphitrius and whoever apprentices with it to our current
day. This is a powerful conjuration, which no Angel can turn from, and
which can’t be refused by any Jinn, Ifreet, Mared or Shitan. Any seeker’s
knowledge of the arts is handicapped, who doesn’t possess it or doesn’t
know of it.”

I really don't know much about the book to be released itself, but I can provide you with a glimpse.

This is the original magical square, and as you can see the writing is barely readable:

And of course, my rendition:

From what I know, this is a limited edition, so... hurry up and order your own.

The Forbidden Grimoire of Harut and Marut

This grimoire is special... Not only does it show the wonderful hidden lore of Arabic jinn magic, but it does so in a quite impressive form. I was a bit amazed to find out that this one was going to be released in full color. The pages mimic aged parchment, the lettering is unique and the figures are reproduced in red and green. These are the traditional inks used in Arabic magic to denote negative or harmful  spells (red) and benign or positive spells (green).

I chose this very interesting square, of the 71 figures I redrew. Featured on page 12 of  Forbidden Grimoire, it's a talisman meant to bring customers, prosperity and acquisitions.

The paper of the original Al Toukhi edition was an orange-yellowish hue, and the square was clearly drawn by (a rather unpracticed) hand. Typos were corrected merely by slashing with a line and writing above, if you look  closely, some of the words in Arabic were written horizontally, others diagonally.

This is my rendition of the square, in black and white for better viewing:

And this is the final image, in green:

As before, I will kindly ask you not to copy these images for profit, more display them on your page without permission. To find out more about this talisman's uses and other secrets of the Egyptian sorcerer Al-Toukhi, please purchase the book, The Forbidden Grimoire of Harut and Marut.

Red Magick

As promised, I will post for each book one original image and one redrawn by me. I would like to thank the publishers for granting me access to the material, for patiently guiding me though the often illegible Arabic words and names contained in the figures and of course, for letting me put these on my blog.
The drawings in the old Al Tukhi books are quite bad, and were in desperate need of reconstruction. Some of the squares were corrupted (they would be wrong mathematically speaking) and I also had the honor of working on that with the publisher, so the figures could be restored to their original glory, both in Red Magick and in The Forbidden Grimoire of Harut and Marut..

This is one of the magical seals in the original edition:

And this is my rendering:

It's a talisman for the fullfilment of needs, from what we read in the book.  Shall not publish all the instructions, the ritual and the conjuration associated with it, as you can find in the book,  Red Magick: Grimoire of Djinn Spells and Sorceries, page 64.
